Unni of the month: Jill unni
Annyeong! Tell us a little about yourself. Name and background.
Hi I am Jill, Korean-American adoptee Ajumma. I was adopted as an infant and grew up in Nebraska. Moved around the mid-west for college and grad school and now have been in Chicago since 2011. Love living in the city with my little family — partner, 2 daughters (6 & 1) and our pup.
What does it mean to be an Ajumma?
An Ajumma is someone with purpose, resilience, and strength.
Why did you join Ajumma Rising?
I was looking for a hobby and a place to be myself, outside of my role as a mother and partner. I’ve also always seen myself as a granny in a young person’s body - eagerly awaiting the day to be as blunt as possible and wear as many floral prints as possible - so it seemed like a natural fit.
What are your hobbies/interests?
Love exploring the city and traveling with my family, reading, planning trips
What is your job/career/career/talent?
I am currently a fractional People & Operations Manager for a CPA firm / stay-at-home mom.
How can you help other Ajummas?
I was an early childhood teacher - so always happy to talk about early education and young learners. Love meeting up for food, drinks, coordinating local travel, play dates and always happy to lend a listening ear.
