Ahnyeoung!

My name is Joanne and I am a proud Korean-American Ajumma.

What does it mean to be an Ajumma?

Being an Ajumma means that I am capable of anything.

What are your hobbies and/or interests?

I love engaging in various arts and crafts and nature therapy.

What is your job, career, and/or talent?

I used to be an educator and taught 1st and 2nd grade. One of my passions is to teach children how to read. I left teaching to pursue an occupational therapy degree for a better work-life balance. I currently work as a school-based occupational therapist to support students with the skills they need in order to function in the school setting. I also have experience working in behavior health and inpatient rehab. Oh, I am also a medic in the Army Reserves so I have some basic knowledge on emergency medicine.

How can you help other Ajummas?

I can support other Ajummas by providing them with strategies to support their children. They can also reach out if they have questions or need some assistance with financial literacy, health literacy, mental health questions, and education/career questions.
