unni of the month: Christine unni
Annyeong!
I’m Christine Lee and I currently live in Irving Park neighborhood in Chicago with my partner, John; 3 daughters, Anna, Vicki and Penny; and 2 cats, Nat and Geri. I grew up in Glenview, a north suburb of Chicago. After attending the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, I moved to Saitama, Japan where I taught English in the public school system for a year. After returning to Chicago, I attended Loyola University School of Law. I am currently a full time mom and work part-time for myself in real estate law. I enjoy volunteering my time in various organizations. I currently hold positions on the local school council of both Hawthorne Scholastic Academy and Northside College Prep High School. I am also involved in two not-for-profit organizations including serving as a board member of KANWIN, formerly Korean American Women in Need, and as the Vice President of the board of LBP School of Dance.
What does it mean to be an Ajumma?
To me, being an Ajumma means being in a phase of life where I can explore, appreciate and enjoy everything from friends and family to hobbies and interests in a carefree way.
Why did you join Ajumma Rising?
I was looking to join a social group of strong, interesting and cool women who enjoy not only dancing together, but also are interested in Korean culture and exploring different social interests. I also always wanted to join a flash mob!
What are your hobbies/interests?
Some of my current interests include crafting, watching k-dramas, listening to K-pop, and dancing.
What is your job/career/career/talent?
I currently work as a real estate attorney with a background in tax and estate planning.
How can you help other Ajummas?
Besides legal work, I am always up for meeting up, socializing and lending an ear. I also like to plan parties, work on different crafty projects and can make a pretty good balloon arch!
