Unni of the month: nicole unni

Annyeong!

My name is Nicole and I grew up on the Southside of Chicago. Go White Sox! My dad is African American and my mom is Korean. I don't speak hangul but I'm trying to learn. Right now I just know the important stuff like, "I'm hungry.”, “that was delicious!”, “where’s the restroom?”, “how much is that?”, and “can I get a discount?".

What does it mean to be an Ajumma?

I think being an ajumma means embracing life. You've lived long enough to go through things, learn a little along the way and yet you’re not too old to still learn a little more. And maybe even unlearn some old things too.

Why did you join Ajumma Rising?

I joined for the camaraderie and to have some fun.

What are your hobbies/interests?

Eating is my favorite pass time so I love learning about different cultures through food. I also love watching K-Dramas and spending time with my family.

What is your job/career/career/talent?

I'm an Orthopedic Technologist and I currently work with children. I love my job and enjoy helping people.

How can you help other Ajummas?

I don't actually know how I can help. But I'm always open to assisting or lending a hand in anyway I can.
