UNNI OF THE MONTH: SAMANTHA UNNI
Ahnyeong!
My name is Samantha Kim Morris and I live in the western suburbs with my husband and 3 children. We are all very active in sports and love being outdoors. I am the Math & Science Coordinator at Elmhurst University and really care about supporting first year college students. I love Korean food and trying out new foods. I also enjoy dancing, being outdoors and love being able to dance and socialize with a group of incredible women.
What does it mean to be an Ajumma?
Being an Ajumma used to have a negative connotation to me but I have been embracing getting older and find it freeing. It makes me feel more bold and wise.
Why did you join Ajumma Rising?
I joined Ajumma Rising to be a part of an empowering community of incredible Ajummas! I love how we embrace Ajummas from various ethnicities, backgrounds and ages. I also joined because it gives me the opportunity to dance and meet new people.
What are your hobbies/interests?
I like hiking, cooking, painting, working out, reading, hanging out with friends and family, and watching my kids play sports.
What is your job, career, and/or talent?
I am currently the Math & Science Coordinator at Elmhurst University.
How can you help other Ajummas?
I would love to help other Ajummas by providing them with encouragement when they need a cheerleader on their side. I can also help by providing math support, basic Korean language tutoring, and navigating resources within colleges.
